The move comes in the wake of Fadlu Davids’ sudden resignation, which left the Tanzanian giants in limbo despite their narrow 1-0 away win over the Botswana champions.
Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca, announced Davids as their new head coach on Monday. While Simba assistant Selemani Matola remains suspended.
With the second-leg tie looming, Simba have opted for a safe pair of hands in Morocco, a coach whose reputation has grown rapidly in recent years.
The 55-year-old tactician is currently head coach of the Taifa Stars.
He masterminded Tanzania’s strong run at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on home soil.
Under his leadership, the team topped their group and drew plaudits for their fearless, attacking football.
He has also been instrumental in steering Tanzania closer to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Credited with building a squad that blends youth and experience.
At club level, Morocco is no stranger to high-pressure environments.
He previously worked with Zanzibar’s national team and several Tanzanian clubs.
Simba will be banking on his tournament experience and man-management skills to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
They host Gaborone United at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium next week.
Whether his stint extends beyond the interim role remains to be seen, but for now, Hemed “Morocco” Suleiman has been handed the responsibility of guiding the Tanzanian champions through one of their most crucial fixtures of the season.
