Crystal Palace are turning their attention to one of Africa’s brightest defensive talents Ousmane Diomande as uncertainty grows around Marc Guehi’s future at the club.
Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that Ivorian centre-back has moved to the top of Palace’s list ahead of the January window.
The London side made an attempt to sign him during the summer and plan to revive that push with greater urgency.
Diomande, who continues to shine for Sporting CP, has developed into one of West Africa’s most promising defenders since his move from Danish side Midtjylland in 2023.
Palace’s renewed interest comes as Guehi attracts attention from major European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Liverpool.
With the England international likely to leave in 2026 if his contract winds down, Palace see Diomande as the ideal successor.
Reports suggest the Eagles were ready to spend €55 million on the Ivorian during the previous window.
As the winter market approaches, Diomande has emerged as the African defender Palace believe can anchor their backline for years to come.
