Gor Mahia Coach CK Akonnor Rues Missed Chances After Bidco United Setback

CK Akonnor and Goh Mahia’s bid to begin the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League campaign on a strong note fell short as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bidco United at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
A late penalty from Newton Ochieng proved decisive, handing the Ghanaian coach a losing start in his first competitive outing with the record Kenyan champions.
Despite dominating large spells of the game, Gor Mahia failed to make their chances count.
The former Ghana boss expressed disappointment over his side’s inability to capitalize on their opportunities.

“My general assessment was positive in terms of how we played,” CK Akonnor told the club’s media.
“We controlled the game and were able to create the chances, what we need now is a moment of magic where we will score goals.
“We need to have composure in the final third and do our best to get the necessary goals,”
The result leaves K’Ogalo in 15th place after matchday one, with several fixtures still to be completed.
CK Akonnor and Gor Mahia will be eager to bounce back quickly when they meet Sofapaka on September 27.
