GoldStars Sack Frimpong Manso After CAF Champions League Defeat to JS Kabylie

Bibiani GoldStars have parted company with head coach Frimpong Manso, 48 hours after their 2-0 home defeat to Algerian giants JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The decision, communicated to the squad during Monday’s training session in Accra, comes directly from club management as the team prepares for the decisive return leg in Algeria this weekend.

Assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah steps in temporarily to oversee preparations.

Frimpong Manso leaves the club two and a half seasons after his appointment.

A period in which he turned GoldStars from relegation battlers into Ghana Premier League champions.

A historic triumph achieved last season in only their third year in the top flight.

He also guided the Miners to a bright start in the current campaign. A league opening win against Bechem United before the setback against Kabylie.

Attention now shifts to his successor, with former Asante Kotoko boss Maxwell Konadu strongly linked with the role.

Maxwell Konadu

Konadu, who recently steered Nsoatreman FC to FA Cup glory and into continental competition, is expected to be confirmed after GoldStars’ trip to Algeria.

He brings a wealth of experience from his stints at Kotoko, Legon Cities, and Accra Great Olympics, as GoldStars look to steady the ship and reassert themselves both domestically and on the continental stage.
