Kaze, Ben Youssef Handed Kaizer Chiefs Reins After Nabi Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have turned to Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef to guide the team through the rest of the 2025/26 season following the departure of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The club confirmed on Friday that both assistants will take joint charge after Nabi’s mutual separation with the club earlier in the day. The decision comes amid a turbulent run that has left the team struggling for stability and consistency.

“Coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will lead the technical team for the remainder of the 2025/26 season,” Chiefs said in a statement.

The pair face an uphill task. Chiefs’ early-season form has evaporated, and recent dressing-room tension including Fiacre Ntwari’s refusal to be substituted in the Carling Knockout Cup has exposed deeper issues within the squad.

Kaze, who previously worked with Nabi at Young Africans, is known for his tactical discipline and calm presence.

While Ben Youssef has built a reputation as a detail-oriented strategist.

Together, they must now rebuild confidence and unity inside Naturena.

Their first assignment comes on 18 October, when Chiefs host AS Simba of DR Congo in the CAF Confederation Cup

A fixture that could shape the tone of their season.

For Chiefs, this interim setup represents both a test and an opportunity.

A chance to stabilise a fractured dressing room while the search for a permanent coach begins.

The spotlight now shifts from the headlines of departure to the challenge of direction.

And it rests firmly on the shoulders of Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
