The 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup delivered goals, drama, and resilience on Saturday as clubs from North and Southern Africa marched into the second preliminary round.

Etoile du Sahel Too Strong for Ahly Madani

Etoile du Sahel eased past Sudan’s Ahly Madani with a 3–0 win in Sousse, sealing a 3–1 aggregate success.

Rayan Annan broke the deadlock after just seven minutes. Salah Eddine Ghedmassi added a late second before Fadi Ben Chouk wrapped things up in stoppage time. Etoile looked sharp and underlined their credentials as early contenders.

Olympique Safi Hit Niger’s Nigelec for Five

Moroccan side Olympique Safi crushed Nigelec 5–0 at home to advance 6–0 on aggregate.

Mohamed Chemlal bagged two goals inside 30 minutes, Moussa Kone added a third, and Salah Eddine Rahouli made it 4–0 before half-time. Al-Sharqi Al-Bahri completed the rout after the break.

Safi now set up a mouth-watering tie with fellow Tunisians Stade Tunisien in the next round.

Stade Tunisien Hold Their Nerve

Already 2–0 up from the first leg, Stade Tunisien dug deep in Nouadhibou to hold Mauritania’s SNIM to a goalless draw.

Aman Ndaw’s red card in the 34th minute left them playing with ten men, but a disciplined defensive display secured progression.

Jwaneng Galaxy Edge Wonders on Penalties

In Gaborone, Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy needed penalties to eliminate Malawi’s Mighty Wonders.

Dynamo Fredericks scored in the 75th minute to level the tie 1–1 on aggregate. The hosts then held firm in a tense shootout, winning 7–6 to keep their CAF Confederation Cup dream alive.

Al Zamala Deliver Sudanese Pride

Sudanese club Al Zamala SC overturned a first-leg deficit to beat Somalia’s Dekedaha FC 2–1 on aggregate.

A 2–1 victory in the second leg sealed progression and provided rare footballing joy for a country still enduring civil war. Their qualification marks a significant achievement and a bright spot for Sudanese football.
