An all-Egyptian clash will light up the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup group stage after Zamalek and Al Masry were drawn together in Group D.
The draw was held on Monday at thrSuperSport studios in Johannesburg.
Zamalek, champions of the 2023/24 edition, headline a competitive group that also includes South African heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs and Zambian side ZESCO United.
Elsewhere, Algerian outfit USM Alger, the top seeds in Group A, will face Mali’s Djoliba AC, Morocco’s Olympique Club de Safi, and Ivorian side FC San Pedro.
Group B will see three-time CAF Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca lead the charge against AS Maniema of DR Congo, Tanzania’s Azam FC, and tournament debutants Nairobi United from Kenya.
In Group C, Algeria’s CR Belouizdad face a stern test against South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC alongside Congo’s AS Otoho and Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars.
The group stage is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of 21–23 November 2025, with two rounds of fixtures before the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
Action will resume from 23–25 January 2026 after the continental showpiece.
The stakes remain high as this year’s champions will receive USD 2 million, while the runners-up take home USD 1 million.
Teams that progress from the group stage are guaranteed at least USD 550,000, with third and fourth-placed sides earning USD 400,000 apiece.
