Barcelona Eye End-of-Year Friendly in Morocco

FC Barcelona (Barca) are in discussions to play a friendly match in Morocco at the end of 2025.

The Spanish giants are reportedly weighing up offers for a year-end exhibition game, which could generate between €7 million and €8 million in revenue.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Morocco has become the preferred choice due to its close proximity, straightforward travel arrangements, and strong commercial appeal.

Initially, Barca held talks over a possible fixture in Peru, but that plan now appears unlikely.

The club’s management is instead focusing on organizing a friendly in North Africa after their final competitive match of 2025, against Villarreal.

The timing would coincide with the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

A trip from Barcelona to Morocco would allow the squad to travel, play, and return within 24 hours.

Barcelona had previously turned down an invitation to play in Casablanca last summer due to pre-season conflicts, but this time, the opportunity aligns more favourably with their calendar.

If confirmed, the fixture would mark a high-profile football event in Morocco and an important financial boost for the Catalan club.
