PSGs Bradley Barcola Faces Multiple Weeks Out Due to Ankle Sprain
PSG Winger Bradley Barcola Faces Extended Time on Sidelines Due to Ankle Injury
Injury Update
PARIS — Bradley Barcola, the winger for Paris Saint-Germain, is set to miss several weeks of action after suffering a right ankle sprain during the Champions League match against Chelsea.
The club confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that Barcola experienced significant ligament damage during the encounter on Tuesday. He was substituted in the 59th minute of the game, with PSG announcing that he will be “unavailable in the coming weeks.”
Performance Highlights
Barcola played a crucial role in PSG’s recent success, having scored the opening goal in their 3-0 victory that secured a place in the Champions League quarterfinals, bringing the aggregate score to 8-2.
The energetic right winger had also found the net in the first leg at Parc des Princes, contributing to a total of 12 goals this season. His injury raises concerns that he might miss the upcoming quarterfinals against Liverpool, a team with six Champions League titles to its name, who advanced by defeating Galatasaray.
Upcoming Matches
PSG is scheduled to face Nice on Saturday in their final match before the international break. Unfortunately, this means Barcola will also be absent for France’s friendlies against Brazil and Colombia.
The Ligue 1 leaders are set to return to play against Toulouse on April 3, with the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals to follow the week after.
