Octobers Top Players: Kane, Mbeumo, and Mbappé by ESPN

ESPN Announces Players of the Month for October

ESPN is excited to launch its inaugural edition of Players of the Month, showcasing the standout performers from Europe’s top five leagues: the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A, and Ligue 1. Each month, experts will vote for the top player in each league, and the results will be revealed subsequently.

How It Works

The process is straightforward: Three ESPN journalists from different nations select their top three players from each league monthly. Points are allocated as follows: 3 points for third place, 5 points for second, and 10 points for first place. The maximum points a player can score in a month is 30 if selected as the best by all three journalists. In the event of a tie, the number of first-place votes determines the winner.

Bundesliga: Harry Kane

Forward | Bayern Munich and England | 32 years old | 25 points

Bayern Munich has experienced a remarkable streak, remaining unbeaten since their 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals on July 5. This includes 18 consecutive victories—comprising three preseason friendlies and 15 official matches across various competitions—thanks largely to Harry Kane.

The English striker, in 15 appearances this season, has netted 22 goals and provided three assists. He particularly shone in October, where he scored in two out of three league matches, leading his team to the top of the Bundesliga table with 24 points.

Second place:

  • Christoph Baumgartner: MF, RB Leipzig (10 points)
    Third place:
  • Alejandro Grimaldo: DF, Bayer Leverkusen (8 points)

Ligue 1: Mason Greenwood

Forward | Marseille and England | 24 years old | 20 points

Mason Greenwood, acquired from Manchester United for €31.6 million after a loan spell in Getafe, has been instrumental for Marseille. His performances earned him the title of October’s best player in Ligue 1, accumulating 20 out of 30 possible points.

In four matches last month, Greenwood contributed significantly to the team’s success, scoring five out of their 12 total goals, securing two wins and one draw, and placing Marseille third in the league standings.

Second place:

  • Joaquin Panichelli: FW, Strasbourg (20 points)
    Third place:
  • Ilan Kebbal: MF, Paris FC (5 points)

LaLiga: Kylian Mbappé

Forward | Real Madrid and France | 26 years old | 30 points

Kylian Mbappé has put on a show in every match this season for Real Madrid, claiming the title of LaLiga’s Player of the Month with a perfect score of 30 points.

In three league matches throughout October, he was involved in four of the six goals, further solidifying his status as a top-tier striker. With Real Madrid finishing the month atop the league with 27 points, Mbappé stands as the top scorer, boasting 13 goals.
