Jamie Leweling Returns to Training Ahead of Dortmund Clash
Fitness Update on VfB Stuttgart Forward
VfB Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling, 25, is back on the training pitch and may be ready to compete against Borussia Dortmund in this weekend’s Bundesliga showcase. The German striker was sidelined for Stuttgart’s previous match and also missed recent national team fixtures due to a calf injury.
Coach’s Comments on Leweling’s Condition
During the press conference on Thursday, head coach Sebastian Hoeneß provided an update on Leweling’s situation. “He was able to train fully yesterday. We did a fitness test beforehand, and everything went smoothly; his calf is responding well,” Hoeneß stated in anticipation of Saturday’s match.
Caution in Leweling’s Return
While Leweling, who has netted seven goals and assisted six times in 25 Bundesliga matches during the 2025/26 season, may take the field against Dortmund, Hoeneß emphasized the importance of a careful approach to his comeback.
“I will keep monitoring him over the next couple of days,” he added. “Jamie is certainly a player who can be integrated back into the squad fairly quickly when needed.”
