Guardiola Dismisses Retirement Rumors
Pep Guardiola’s Position
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has refuted claims that he is contemplating retirement anytime soon. He previously mentioned that City would be his final club prior to taking an extended sabbatical, with his contract currently set to last until 2027.
Future Plans
In a press statement on Friday, the Catalan coach emphasized that he is not thinking about retirement. Ahead of the upcoming match against Everton, Guardiola playfully remarked: “Am I prepared to take a break? I’ll consider that in 2035.”
Continuous Projects
Guardiola elaborated on his philosophy regarding his career, stating, “Undoubtedly, I believe it’s beneficial in life to continuously embark on new projects. Repeating the same role for several decades can become monotonous. I have consistently said that this transition will occur naturally.”
Natural Transition
He continued, “This change arises when the club, or in this instance, the manager or players, sense it. We are no longer the same as we were 20, 30, or even 10 years ago. Our evolution is influenced by multiple factors, and when that moment arrives, it occurs organically. This is especially true in this club, given the close relationship I share with the chairman.”
Guardiola concluded, “We maintain a very transparent communication regarding when it’s the right time to take the next step for the club and all involved. This is not solely about me; it involves the aspirations of many – including the backroom staff and assistant coaches who have departed. It’s all part of the process. Yet, as of now, I am still here in front of you!”
