Glasner Prepares for Bournemouth Clash
Crystal Palace’s coach, Oliver Glasner, addressed the media in anticipation of this weekend’s matchup against Bournemouth. Recently, Palace’s undefeated run was interrupted by Everton, thanks to a goal from Jack Grealish. The team is now ready to host Bournemouth at Selhurst Park in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
Discussions on a Possible Contract Extension for Glasner
In his comments prior to the Bournemouth game, Glasner touched on the speculation surrounding a contract extension, revealing that discussions have taken place.
“I met with Steve (Parish) on Sunday during an NFL event, and we spoke. We continued our discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and he was present today, which is why I was a bit delayed! We have conversations almost every day,” he stated.
“It’s not about me demanding specific terms or wanting anything for myself; Crystal Palace is focused on achieving success and maintaining this trajectory. We regularly talk about how to optimize our chances for continued progress.”
“It’s essential to have a partnership grounded in shared goals and visions for achieving success,” he added. “If we can align on a common path and objectives for Crystal Palace, we can proceed with further discussions. If not, we will also continue to engage in dialogue.”
Comments on Mateta and Eze Dynamic
Glasner was queried about striker Jean-Philippe Mateta’s recent comments regarding former Eagles player Wilfried Zaha, who reportedly joked about Mateta’s chances of playing for the French national team.
“I have no insight regarding this situation. I don’t focus on my players’ social media engagements – my job is a 24-hour commitment, and we have more pressing matters to discuss,” he replied.
“I did not observe any negative or positive effects from his return from France.”
Glasner Reflects on Recent Accolades
Glasner has recently been honored as the Premier League Manager of the Month for September and was awarded Austrian Coach of the Year, accolades he regards with pride.
“It’s a tremendous recognition. However, this is the first time our entire squad has returned from international duty,” he acknowledged.
“I extend my gratitude to the players and my coaching staff—they are the true reason for this achievement. Success cannot be attained in isolation; we can only thrive as a cohesive unit. Ultimately, it’s the players who must deliver strong performances.”
He continued, “While it is indeed a significant recognition for me, it is an accolade that belongs to all of us. I conveyed to the players that this is not just my achievement; it’s a collective one.”
Injury Update
In a positive development for the team, Glasner confirmed that there are no new injuries to report.
“Everything is fine. All players are in good health and available for selection. We currently have no injuries, so let’s hope this continues,” he stated.
“Long-term, of course, we still have Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure out, but everyone else is fit and ready to contribute.”
