Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard has shed light on his decision to reject an opportunity to return to Rangers.
Discussion with Rangers Management
Gerrard engaged in discussions with Rangers’ leadership regarding a potential return to the Ibrox Stadium after the departure of Russell Martin, yet ultimately opted against resuming his managerial role for a second time.
Insights from Gerrard
Speaking on TNT Sports, Gerrard shared his thoughts: “Conversations with the Rangers owners were very promising and engaging. However, things felt a bit hurried from my viewpoint.”
He added, “At that moment, my family was in Bahrain, making it challenging to reach a decision quickly. I had many considerations weighing on me. Taking on such a significant challenge required everything to align perfectly, and I needed to be fully prepared.”
“Regrettably, the timing wasn’t right for me, which led me to step back. The club has an excellent manager now, and I wish them the best going forward. My emotional connection with Rangers remains strong.”
