Barcelona Coach Praises 17-Year-Old Talent
Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has expressed his belief that 17-year-old Pedro Fernandez, affectionately known as Dro, earned his opportunity during the team’s 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
A Surprise Starting Role
Dro, whose full name is Pedro Fernandez, was an unexpected choice for the starting lineup in the recent match against Real Sociedad.
Flick positioned Dro in the No. 10 role, just behind the star striker Robert Lewandowski.
Coach’s Comments
Hansi Flick remarked, “He is an incredibly skilled player. He embodies the essence of Barça.” He continued, “It’s fantastic to have such talented individuals who can share the minutes on the field. I appreciate how everyone is striving to put forth their best effort. This attitude is essential, especially since we have a packed schedule ahead.”
Flick concluded by emphasizing that the win was a collective achievement, stating, “The team performed well; they understood the game’s demands, and while it required hard work, we truly merited this victory.”
Contract Negotiations Ahead
The Barcelona management has already initiated conversations to prolong Dro’s contract. As he approaches his 18th birthday in January, the club is keen to finalize a new agreement swiftly. Plans are in place to present him with a five-year contract extension.
