Endrick Shines with Hat Trick in Lyon’s Victory
Lyon’s decision to loan Endrick from Real Madrid paid off handsomely as the 19-year-old Brazilian forward scored a remarkable hat trick during a 5-2 triumph at Metz in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
A Stellar Performance
Endrick, who has been earmarked as a future superstar but faced limited opportunities at Madrid, has quickly made his mark by netting four goals and providing an assist in just three matches since joining Lyon for the remainder of the season.
- Opening Goal: The Brazilian displayed his skill by neatly flicking a cross from captain Corentin Tolisso into the net with his left foot in the 11th minute.
- Second Goal: Just before halftime, Endrick scored again by cutting in from the right, showcasing his control and precision as he slid the ball underneath the goalkeeper, Jonathan Fischer, who was left stranded on the ground.
Endrick’s contribution continued in the 87th minute when he won a penalty through his deft footwork, which he successfully converted, leaving Fischer guessing.
Interestingly, Endrick could have increased his tally, but Fischer managed to save a close-range header and a low shot.
Other contributions for Lyon included goals from central defender Ruben Kluivert, son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert, and Tyler Morton, helping the team secure their position in fourth place.
Other Notable Matches in Ligue 1
In a different match, Nice achieved a significant breakthrough by defeating Nantes with a score of 4-1, largely thanks to forward Mohamed-Ali Cho’s two goals, bringing his season total to five. The 21-year-old first drew attention in 2021 at just 16 when he became the youngest player in France to sign a professional contract.
- Nice’s Goals: Apart from Cho’s brace, midfielders Sofiane Diop and Tom Louchet also found the net.
- Nantes’ Response: Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed scored for Nantes.
Coach Claude Puel has revitalized Nice’s campaign since taking over, losing only one of five matches after stepping in to replace Franck Haise during a challenging period marked by a nine-game losing streak.
Puel, who previously managed Nice from 2012 to 2016, has brought a much-needed discipline to the team at a time when they are backed by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, a chemical giant.
In other fixtures, Toulouse secured a 2-0 win against Brest with goals from striker Yann Gboho and midfielder Pape Demba Diop, while Paris FC and Angers played to a goalless draw.
