Désiré Doué Exits on Stretcher During PSGs Draw Against Lorient
PSG’s Désiré Doué Injured During 1-1 Draw Against Lorient
Paris Saint-Germain faced another setback as forward Désiré Doué left the game injured in the second half during their 1-1 tie with bottom-placed Lorient.
Doué’s Injury Incident
Doué appeared to be in distress as he grabbed his right thigh before being carried off on a stretcher in the 61st minute, visibly upset.
PSG’s head coach, Luis Enrique, commented, “It was a somewhat unusual injury; I am unsure of his current condition. I hope it’s not severe, but we will have to wait for further assessment.”
Before this incident, Doué had already missed several weeks of the season due to a calf injury. His teammate, Ousmane Dembélé, also faced a lengthy absence because of a hamstring issue.
Match Highlights
In the match, Dembélé returned to the starting lineup, while left back Nuno Mendes put PSG ahead in the 49th minute with a header following a cross from Doué. However, Lorient equalized shortly after, with Igor Silva scoring a powerful shot just two minutes later.
Lorient’s coach, Olivier Pantaloni, noted, “The players were nearly out of energy by the end of the match.”
Impact on League Standings
Despite PSG dropping points in this match, they were not penalized as Marseille also struggled, conceding a late equalizer in their 2-2 draw with Angers. A win would have allowed Marseille to take the top spot in the league due to goal difference. The game became tense as 18-year-old Robinio Vaz scored twice for Marseille, but Ousmane Camara from Angers capitalized on Marseille’s defensive lapses late in the game.
As a result of these outcomes, Monaco ascended to second place in the standings following their 5-3 victory over Nantes.
