Agent’s Revelation on Interest in Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku’s representative has disclosed that Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, previously expressed interest in acquiring the Belgian forward prior to the club’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

In a conversation with AS, Federico Pastorello, Lukaku’s agent, shared insights regarding Ancelotti’s intentions during the 2023 transfer window.

At that time, Lukaku was losing his standing at Chelsea due to multiple factors both on and off the field. Ancelotti’s aim was to secure Lukaku on a loan agreement.

However, Real Madrid decided against investing in such a move, as they were eagerly planning to sign their primary target, Kylian Mbappe, from Paris Saint-Germain.

Agent’s Perspective

Pastorello expressed his thoughts, stating, “I believe Real Madrid is the finest club globally for numerous reasons.” He remarked on the moment when it was uncertain where Lukaku would ultimately end up, highlighting Ancelotti’s interest in the player.

The agent acknowledged that a transfer to Spain did not materialize due to the club’s focus on future strategies: “They were looking to strengthen their attacking options, but their emphasis was already on securing a major signing with Mbappe for the upcoming year, which deterred them from spending on a loan.”

He concluded, “So, in a sense, there was a chance because Ancelotti held Lukaku in high esteem, but regrettably, it did not come to fruition.”
