Rodrigo Ribeiro Shines on Portugal U21 Debut

New Beginnings on the National Stage

Rodrigo Ribeiro took a significant stride in his career by making his debut for Portugal’s under-21 national team. The young forward entered the matches as a substitute during the European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Scotland after being called upon by head coach Luís Freire. Ribeiro also shared insights about his recent transition from Sporting.

Positive Experience Abroad

Following Portugal’s victory over Scotland, Ribeiro expressed satisfaction with his decision to move abroad: “The experience in Germany has been positive; I’ve been getting the playing time I sought. Everything is progressing well, and it’s largely due to the effort I put in at the club that allowed me to be here for this training camp,” he remarked.

Importance of Early Season with Sporting

The young striker acknowledged the value of his first half of the season with Sporting, particularly with the reserve squad: “Competing with the B team, which earned promotion to Liga 2, was beneficial for me. The team performed well, and on an individual level, things were also going smoothly. Then, this opportunity arose. I found the project presented to me appealing, and it’s proving to be successful; I must continue to work hard,” he detailed.

Future Uncertain

When questioned about the possibility of returning to Sporting once his loan concludes, Ribeiro chose not to make any commitments: “I’m concentrating solely on the present. We can discuss the future later,” he concluded, wrapping up his time with the Seleção das Quinas.
