Zirkzee Transfer to Roma Seems Unlikely

Roma’s Pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee Hits a Roadblock

Overview of Zirkzee’s Situation

Roma’s sporting director, Ricky Massara, has acknowledged that acquiring Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United has become “very unlikely.”

Zirkzee, 24, has reportedly expressed a desire to leave Manchester United in search of more playing time, especially with the upcoming summer World Cup on the horizon.

Impediments to the Transfer

While Roma initially showed strong interest in Zirkzee, Massara has pointed out that recent events have dampened those chances. Following the dismissal of coach Ruben Amorim, Manchester United has decided not to entertain any transfer discussions.

In a conversation with DAZN Italia regarding the club’s objectives for the January transfer window, Massara remarked: “At this moment, Manchester United has completely shut down any conversations regarding the transfer market, as the change in management means they are not looking for any new movements. Therefore, it appears quite unlikely that they will reconsider.”

Focus on Alternative Signings

Despite the setback with Zirkzee, Massara confirmed that negotiations are underway to secure Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid. He stated: “There are ongoing talks for Raspadori, and I believe we are nearing a resolution fairly soon, one way or another.”

He added: “Tomorrow could be a day when we gain a clearer understanding of the overall situation.”
