Zamalek SC are through to the Egyptian Super Cup Final after surviving a tense penalty shootout to eliminate Pyramids FC in Abu Dhabi on Thursday night.
The White Knights held their nerve to win 5-4 on spot-kicks after both sides failed to find the net during a tight 90 minutes at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
The game offered few chances, with both teams focusing more on shape and discipline than attacking adventure.
Zamalek’s win sets up a final against their long-time rivals, Al Ahly, who defeated Ceramica Cleopatra 2-1 earlier in the week.
The two Cairo giants will now battle for the trophy on Sunday at the same venue in the United Arab Emirates.
It will be another chapter in one of African football’s most intense rivalries with silverware on the line.
