Xavi Acknowledges Barcelona’s Attempt to Sign Luis Diaz

Former Barcelona head coach Xavi has revealed that the club made efforts to acquire Luis Diaz while he was still at Porto.

Attempt to Secure Diaz

Diaz ultimately transferred to Liverpool, but Xavi confirmed that Barcelona made a move for the Colombian international before the Reds secured his signature.

Subsequent Efforts

Later on, just prior to his move to Bayern Munich, Barcelona attempted once more to negotiate for Diaz, but they were unable to come to an agreement with Liverpool.

Xavi’s Reflection

In an interview with Gol Caracol, Xavi commented, “Our financial condition was quite challenging at that point in time.”

He added, “He is a top-tier athlete, capable of influencing games, possessing remarkable speed, and contributing both in terms of scoring and assisting, alongside being a diligent player.”
