Cameroon’s preparations for their 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff clash against DR Congo have been hit by a string of injury setbacks.
Midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have both been ruled out of the game scheduled for Thursday, November 13.
It is understood Anguissa sustained a hamstring injury during training and will not feature in the semifinal fixture.
His club, Napoli, is expected to assess the midfielder further before deciding whether he should return to Italy for treatment.
Choupo-Moting, on the other hand, is nursing a knee sprain and will also miss the match.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper André Onana remains a major doubt after suffering an ankle problem, with the medical team closely monitoring his recovery.
The injuries come as a huge blow to coach Marc Brys, who will have to rely on his fringe players to deliver against the Leopards.
The mini-tournament in which the game is taking place could hand Africa an additional spot at next year’s World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Cameroon, eight-time World Cup participants, are looking to extend their impressive record on the global stage after featuring in Qatar 2022.
