Wolves Turn Down Leeds’ £33 Million Offer for Strand Larsen
Wolverhampton Wanderers have declined a bid from Leeds United worth £33 million for their striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The proposal, which included an additional £6 million in potential bonuses, was presented several days ago.
Wolves’ Stance on Strand Larsen
Wolves have set a price tag of approximately £40 million for the Norway international and are open to a sale if they receive a suitable offer before the transfer window ends on February 2. Despite this, the club is not actively seeking to offload the player. As it stands, the 25-year-old is expected to participate in the upcoming match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Wolves’ head coach, Rob Edwards, commented on the situation, stating, “He’s been great, he’s trained really well. He’ll be part of the squad tomorrow, so no change. That’s just all I’m focused on at the moment—seeing a player with dedication and a positive attitude. We’re not under any pressure to sell. We want to maintain strength throughout this period; unless it’s in the club’s best interest, no one will leave.”
Currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League, Wolves are trying to restructure their squad in anticipation of potential relegation. Given Strand Larsen’s difficult form and his waning relationship with supporters, his departure from Molineux seems probable.
Background on Strand Larsen
Strand Larsen initially joined Wolves from Celta Vigo in 2024, initially on loan, before securing a permanent move for £23 million during the summer after netting 14 goals in the previous season. This month, he achieved a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury, bringing his season tally to six goals, though only one of these has been scored in league matches.
In August, Newcastle made unsuccessful attempts to acquire Strand Larsen with bids of £50 million and £55 million.
Other Clubs Interested
Nottingham Forest, West Ham, and Crystal Palace are also looking at the striker amid this transfer window. Additionally, Wolves are in discussions with Besiktas over the sale of defender Emmanuel Agbadou, with the Turkish club’s latest offer being £13 million, while Wolves are seeking £17 million for the Ivory Coast international, who joined from Reims for £16.6 million last January.
Midfielder Joao Gomes has also attracted interest from Napoli and Atletico Madrid but may remain at Molineux until the conclusion of the season.
