Wissa Reflects on Last

Wissa Eyes Bright Future at Newcastle United

Recovery and Debut

Yoane Wissa believes there is much more in store for him at Newcastle United, following his return from a knee injury sustained in preseason. This month, he made his debut for the club and has already shown his potential by scoring.

Journey Back to Fitness

In a recent chat with Sky Sports, Wissa shared that he is still working towards achieving his optimal fitness level.

“There is much more to achieve, of course. I am not yet at my full potential. It will take some weeks to get there, and I recognize that I have one more step to complete,” he expressed.

“I am aiming for numerous goals, assists, and victories. That’s what we aim for at this moment.”

Transfer Market Drama

Wissa’s transfer to Newcastle was finalized on the last day of the transfer window, after the club’s numerous offers had been turned down by Brentford.

Reflecting on the dramatic final day of the transfer period, he described it as a day filled with anticipation and anxiety.

“I departed London at three in the morning and drove straight to Newcastle, arriving around seven. I hadn’t slept a wink because of the excitement,” he recounted.

“My agent informed me that we were close to reaching an agreement, so I headed to the training ground. The entire day was spent there, capturing moments with pictures and videos. It felt like a very lengthy day.”

Tense Final Hours

As the day wore on, the tension grew.

“I thought I would be signing at three, but by six or seven, there was still nothing. The time even extended to nine, and I started calling my agent to inquire about the situation. It just came down to negotiations back and forth.”

“I signed with just ten seconds to spare…”
