Newcastle United’s sporting director, Ross Wilson, has confirmed that the club has the financial resources to make acquisitions in the upcoming January transfer window.

While Wilson does not intend to make significant splashes in the market this winter, he remains open to potential signings.

“It’s clear to everyone that considering the amount we invested during the summer, we won’t be making similar expenditures in the winter for various reasons. However, should we decide to invest, the funds are available,” he stated in an interview with BBC Sport.

“Naturally, we will adopt a creative and opportunistic stance. However, it’s crucial that any moves align with our summer strategy and the broader plan for our squad,” he added.

“Discussions are ongoing, and we will assess how Eddie (Howe) perceives the team’s needs moving forward.”
