Wilson Discusses Transitioning from Forest to Newcastle Position

Ross Wilson Explains Move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United

Wilson’s New Role

Ross Wilson has detailed his choice to transition from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United, having recently been appointed as the new technical director for the Magpies.

During a gathering for supporters, Wilson shared his thoughts: “I was in a position that brought me immense satisfaction, which is always a positive state to be in. I’m grateful that I have consistently held jobs for 21 years.”

He continued, “While I was content, opportunities tend to arise occasionally when the phone rings.”

“This particular opportunity was one I found exceptionally hard to turn down.”

“When I discussed my decision with the president of my previous club, I expressed my strong desire to pursue this new path, despite being pleased with my current role.”

“Everything had been progressing smoothly, but I found it impossible to decline this chance.”

“I truly believe that this club has all the elements necessary to achieve great success,” he added. “We’ve been discussing for several months that this represents the most thrilling project in the Premier League, possibly even in Europe. This sentiment is mutual among us.”

“When the prospect of joining a club like this at such a pivotal time arose, I found it virtually impossible to refuse.”

My Responsibilities

Wilson elaborated further: “I want to be transparent—I’m not a high-profile scout flying all over the globe. That’s not who I am.”

“I see myself as a key figure within the organization, particularly from a footballing angle.”

“This encompasses our men’s team under Eddie Howe, our women’s team led by Grace Williams, and the exceptional support from James Bunce, as well as the efforts of Steve Nickson and Andy Howe in scouting. We have a remarkable team in place.”

“Our goal is to elevate our standards and expand as an organization. This is how I envision my role.”
