Will Emegha Take Over From Delap? Insights into Marescas Strategy for Upcoming Summer Acquisition
Emmanuel Emegha to Join Chelsea from Strasbourg Next Summer
Future Chelsea Signing Faces Suspension
Emmanuel Emegha is expected to make the move from Chelsea’s affiliated club, Strasbourg, next summer under an agreement for his transfer, as reports suggest he may take over Liam Delap’s position.
Earlier this week, Emegha was suspended by Strasbourg for not adhering to the club’s “values, expectations and rules,” an unexpected turn of events for the player, who later issued an apology for his behavior.
Seven-Year Contract with Chelsea
Emegha is set to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea, who managed to secure his signing from their sister club. The Dutch forward has recorded 4 goals and 2 assists for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this season. Although there were rumors of an early transfer to Chelsea, it seems that this scenario is unlikely.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is not looking to expedite Emegha’s move once the January transfer window opens, even in light of Liam Delap’s shoulder injury.
Chelsea’s Strategy for Delap’s Absence
Delap has already been sidelined for part of the season and appears to face another extended period away from the pitch. Nevertheless, Chelsea has no plans to rush Emegha’s transition to West London and will instead depend on players such as Pedro Neto, Marc Guiu, or Tyrique George if the situation demands it.
Chelsea has sufficient squad depth to fill the gap left by Delap, so they will allow Emegha to continue his development in France, where he is currently performing well, as Strasbourg aims for a spot in European competition this season.
