West Ham is reportedly considering a transfer for Jamaal Lascelles, the defender from Newcastle United.

The 32-year-old player is deemed expendable by Newcastle this month and has attracted interest from the Hammers.

Newcastle’s Position

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle is open to negotiations with West Ham, contingent on finding a suitable replacement for Lascelles beforehand.

Before Newcastle’s FA Cup victory against Bournemouth last week, manager Eddie Howe stated, “He is not participating in training with us at the moment.”

“He hasn’t been in good enough physical condition to train. While I don’t believe he’s injured per se, his body isn’t ready for it.”

“There is a chance he might depart, but Jamaal has been an outstanding leader for us behind the scenes over the years.”
