Wayne Rooney Praises Marcus Rashford’s Performance at Barcelona
Wayne Rooney, the iconic figure of Manchester United, has expressed his admiration for Marcus Rashford’s resurgence since his loan to Barcelona this summer.
Rashford’s Resurgence
The 27-year-old player made a temporary move to Barcelona, which includes a £30 million purchase option. Since his arrival, he has successfully regained his form.
Remarkable Statistics
In just 13 appearances across all competitions, Rashford has netted five goals and delivered five assists. He now ranks second in goal contributions for Barcelona in La Liga, closely trailing Lamine Yamal, who has six.
Rooney’s Reflections
Rooney, who has played for both Manchester United and the England national team, remarked on the positive development in Rashford’s career but admitted to feeling a sense of loss that Rashford is not showcasing his talents at Old Trafford.
“I would have preferred to see him excel with Manchester United, to be honest,” Rooney shared during a segment of the Wayne Rooney Show.
“However, I must say, the start wasn’t easy for him in the initial matches, and there was plenty of scrutiny surrounding his performance. But he has worked hard, and it’s encouraging to see him doing well. For young players, particularly those you care about, this is fantastic.”
Rooney continued, “Marcus Rashford is an exceptional player at his peak, and that’s what fans want to witness. I hope he maintains this stability and continues to perform consistently. If he stays committed, there’s no questioning his talent.”
He also commended Thomas Tuchel for integrating Rashford into the team and trusting him to perform, despite the competition for spots in the lineup. “It seems that Anthony Gordon might be a step ahead of him in Tuchel’s strategy, but it’s commendable that Tuchel is willing to back players like Rashford, as such support fosters confidence,” Rooney concluded.
