WAFU B U17 Boys: Black Starlets Finalize Their Game Plan for Semi-Final Showdown Against Nigeria

Black Starlets Finalize Preparation for Semifinal Showdown Against Nigeria

Intense Training Session Ahead of WAFU Zone B Clash

The Black Starlets wrapped up their last training ahead of the much-anticipated semi-final match against Nigeria in the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship taking place in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

On Monday evening, the squad conducted their training at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute under the supervision of head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his coaching team. The focus of the training included tactical formations, finishing practices, and set-piece strategies to ensure the players are well-prepared for the critical match.

Renewed Confidence Following Recent Victory

Ghana approaches Tuesday’s match with a surge of confidence after overcoming a sluggish beginning to the group stage, ultimately achieving a convincing 3-1 triumph over Niger in their previous game. This victory secured their spot in the final four, igniting another chapter in the storied rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria.

High Stakes for AFCON Qualification

With a chance to qualify for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on the line, this encounter is expected to be fierce. The Black Starlets are aware that a win against Nigeria will not only propel them into the finals but also assure them a place in the continental tournament.

Coach Dr. Ogum has underscored the importance of mental fortitude and discipline as the young players gear up for the match. “We have prepared thoroughly, and the boys recognize what this game signifies for Ghana. It goes beyond football; it’s about national pride and the opportunity to join the AFCON,” he stated.

The semi-final match is set to commence at 7:00 PM GMT on Tuesday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
