In his opening remarks, VRFA Chairman Daniel Agbogah congratulated the Black Stars for securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, calling this achievement a point of pride and inspiration for the football fraternity in the Volta Region.

Mr. Agbogah took the opportunity to inform members about recent changes to the GFA Statutes and Standing Orders, stressing that discussions during the Congress have been abolished, and members must now submit proposals in writing for consideration.

The Chairman urged members to familiarize themselves with the football statutes and regulations to prevent misunderstandings and ensure active contributions to the governance of the sport. He explained the rationale for hosting the Regional Middle League in Ho, citing the area’s diverse population and accessibility, which are expected to draw more fans and media coverage for regional events.

Engaging with Schools and Community Support

Mr. Agbogah also mentioned ongoing conversations with the Ghana Education Service to introduce new football competitions at the school level. He acknowledged the vibrant participation of clubs in the previous season, stating that over 50 clubs are now utilizing social media to promote their activities and engage with fans. Additionally, he commended the District Football Association chairmen for their significant role in identifying and nurturing young football talents at the grassroots level.

Collaboration with GFA Leadership

Representing the GFA President, Executive Council Member Mr. Gideon Fosu praised the leadership of the VRFA for its dedication to the development of football in the region. He acknowledged the strides made under the administration of Kurt Okraku, particularly in referee training, grassroots coaching, and youth competitions, and called on political leaders and stakeholders to support football development in the region.
