Vallecano Athletes Criticize Intolerable Circumstances Before Game Postponement

Rayo Vallecano Players Raise Concerns Over Training Facilities

Infrastructure Issues Highlighted

In a statement released late on Friday, Rayo Vallecano players expressed their discontent regarding the “outdated infrastructure” at both the Estadio de Vallecas and the club’s training facilities. They noted that these areas had been largely unusable during pre-season training for several months.

Match Postponement Due to Poor Pitch Conditions

On Saturday, LaLiga confirmed that the match against Oviedo would not take place due to the substandard condition of the playing surface. The league added that recent heavy rainfall had hindered efforts to restore the turf, which had only recently been replaced.

Players’ Complaints About Facilities

The Rayo Vallecano players depicted a scenario of ongoing neglect, citing “inadequate conditions that are deteriorating as the season continues.” They specifically mentioned the absence of hot water in the showers on some days and insufficient cleaning services.

They have reportedly raised these issues multiple times with club president Raul Martin Presa, but unfortunately, little action has been taken in response.

Response from Oviedo

Oviedo also released a statement expressing their understanding of the concerns raised by Rayo Vallecano. However, they criticized the decision to postpone the match just four hours before kickoff, stating that it would cause them “significant harm.”

Upcoming Matches

Rayo Vallecano is set to face their local rivals, Atletico Madrid, in the upcoming weekend.
