Galatasaray Opts Against Yann Sommer, Acquires Ugurcan Cakir

Galatasaray had an opportunity to secure the services of Inter Milan’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer last week.

Inter Milan was willing to part with Sommer for a fee of €7 million, given that the Swiss international’s contract is approaching its final year.

Despite the possibility of acquiring him, Galatasaray ultimately chose not to pursue Sommer, primarily due to concerns about his age. Instead, they opted to sign Ugurcan Cakir from Trabzonspor for a reported €27 million.

Future Plans for Inter Milan

According to reports from TMW, Inter Milan is prepared to let Sommer complete his contract and become a free agent next summer. The club intends to utilize this season to find and recruit a younger goalkeeper to take over the starting position.
