Uganda’s Queen Cranes kept their World Cup dream alive after easing past Namibia to reach the third round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
The Ugandan side wrapped up a comfortable 5-0 aggregate victory, sealing the job with a 2-0 win in Monday’s return leg at FUFA Kadiba Stadium.
Peace Muduwa broke the deadlock before Agnes Nabukenya doubled the lead to put the tie out of Namibia’s reach.
Their first-leg triumph in Windhoek had already set the tone, with a commanding 3-0 result.
Head coach Sheryl Ulanda praised her squad’s drive across the two games.
“The players showed the right attitude. We must keep pushing and prepare even harder for the next challenge,” she said.
Uganda will now await the winner between Burundi and Zambia in the next round.
Elsewhere in the region, South Sudan stumbled at home, falling 2-0 to Malawi at the Juba National Stadium.
Eneless Fabiano and Sarah Mullimbika provided the goals that give Malawi control ahead of the return fixture.
Three more CECAFA representatives are also eyeing progression.
Tanzania, who smashed Angola 4-0 in their first leg, travel for the second leg on September 27.
Burundi and Rwanda face tricky away ties against Zambia and Nigeria respectively.
The road leads to Poland, which will stage the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup from September 5 to 27, 2026.
