Uganda Premier League in Crisis as Vipers Refuse to Play Kitara FC

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC has drawn a hard line in its standoff with FUFA.
The club announced it will not play Saturday’s fixture against Kitara FC.
The Kitende-based side released the statement on October 2, confirming its withdrawal from the upcoming doubleheader at Namboole Stadium.
“Vipers Sports Club informs its fans, stakeholders, football lovers, and the general public that the club shall not participate in the new league format double header game against Kitara FC. Until FUFA formally and respectfully responds to the issues raised in our correspondences and petitions,” the club declared.
The Venoms have been outspoken against the league’s new structure, arguing that FUFA pushed through reforms without adequate consultation.
Thursday’s boycott call escalates the standoff and throws Saturday’s Uganda Premier League fixture list into uncertainty.
Vipers also used the statement to thank their supporters and “all genuine football lovers” for backing their push for transparency and integrity in Ugandan football.
With the boycott looming, pressure shifts to FUFA to address the grievances before the season risks further disruption.
