Uganda have named a 26-man squad for their final two matches in the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers, including two crucial returns.

Head coach Paul Put has reshaped his team as the Cranes prepare to face Botswana on October 9 and Algeria on October 14.

Uganda sit level on 15 points with Mozambique, while Algeria lead Group G with 19 points.

Victories in both matches could secure Uganda’s first-ever World Cup qualification.

Bobosi Byaruhanga returns to the squad after missing the September camp. The Oakland Roots midfielder will reinforce the midfield.

Allan Oyirwoth, who plays for New England Revolution, also returns after strong club performances.

Their comeback gives Uganda valuable depth ahead of the crucial fixtures.

Some players from the previous squad have been dropped. Joel Mutakubwa, Elvis Bwomono, Karim Watambala, Patrick Jonah Kakande, and John Paul Dembe will not feature this time.

Paul Put wants a sharper, more balanced team for the decisive matches.

The squad retains key figures like Allan Okello, Travis Mutyaba, Kenneth Semakula, and Rogers Mato. Goalkeepers Denis Onyango, Salim Omar Magoola, and Nafian Alionzi will share duties between the posts. Defenders include Elio Capradossi, Toby Sibbick, and Jordan Obita.

Byaruhanga and Semakula will anchor the midfield, while Okello and Mutyaba lead the attack.

Uganda face Botswana in the penultimate group match before a potentially decisive clash against Algeria.

Wins in both fixtures could see the Cranes overtake Mozambique and challenge for top spot.

The final two games will determine whether Uganda secure a historic World Cup debut.
