Udinese’s Gianluca Nani Reflects on Lucca’s Departure to Napoli

Udinese’s sports director, Gianluca Nani, believes that Napoli will come to regret allowing Lorenzo Lucca to escape their grasp.

Lorenzo Lucca was initially on loan at Napoli from Udinese this season. The Azzurri exercised their option to sign him permanently but subsequently loaned him to Nottingham Forest last month, including a clause for a potential permanent transfer.

In an interview with TMW, Nani stated:
“I think it’s merely a matter of time before he makes an impact. He has moved to the Premier League, one of the top leagues globally. I’m confident he will thrive; he possesses all the necessary qualities.”

Nani also shared insights on successfully securing Branimir Mlacic from Hajduk Split, outmaneuvering interest from AC Milan and Inter.

He remarked, “I didn’t spend my time at the beach in Croatia; instead, I aimed to engage directly in negotiations. Problems can often be solved more effectively face-to-face.”
“The process became intricate due to interest from significant clubs. After stepping back, it proved simpler to finalize the agreement.”
