Tuchel Provides Encouraging News on Liverpool Aspirant Guehi: No Structural Damage Detected
Positive Update on Marc Guehi’s Recovery
England’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has shared an encouraging update regarding the recovery of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi from his recent injury.
Injury Status and Coach’s Comments
Guehi missed the recent match against Brighton, which ended in a goalless draw. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner expressed concern about Guehi’s condition, noting that the 25-year-old was struggling to walk. This revelation was alarming for the defender, who plays a crucial role for the Eagles.
Nonetheless, Tuchel provided an optimistic outlook in advance of England’s upcoming match against Serbia. He stated that Guehi is making good progress in his recovery behind the scenes.
It’s very painful for Marc, but fortunately, there’s no structural damage. It mainly concerns the pain, and there’s a chance we could see significant improvement very quickly,
Tuchel explained.
He further detailed the approach being taken:
Our goal is to prepare for the second game. If he isn’t able to participate in training by Friday or Saturday, we’ll keep him back to focus on rest and treatment in London.
Tuchel emphasized Guehi’s value to the team, saying,
He wishes to remain with us, and we want him close. He is one of the team’s leaders and serves as a vital link between many players, which is encouraging to see.
He added,
Guehi is doing everything possible to be ready for the second match, and we assess him daily to gauge his readiness.
Transfer Interest and Future Speculations
Marc Guehi has attracted attention from Premier League champions Liverpool, who nearly signed him during the summer transfer window. Liverpool had a £35 million offer accepted by Crystal Palace, but the Eagles ultimately decided against the sale at the last minute.
Guehi’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season, and reports suggest that Liverpool might renew their efforts to acquire him in January. Other major clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are also rumored to be interested in the defender, and news of his recovery from injury will likely fuel further speculation about his future.
