Thomas Frank

Key Insights from Frank’s Conversations

Tottenham’s head coach, Thomas Frank, recently revealed that he engaged in talks with Chelsea and Manchester United on the same day last year.

Frank met Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of Manchester United, in his garage before heading to a hotel in London for discussions with Chelsea in May 2024.

Club Decisions Post-Interviews

At the time, Manchester United chose to stick with their manager Erik ten Hag, later appointing Ruben Amorim in November 2024. Meanwhile, Chelsea made the decision to bring Enzo Maresca on board.

Journey to Tottenham

After spending another season with Brentford, Frank transitioned to Tottenham in June 2025. He is preparing to release a new book, reflecting on his experiences, including the remarkable day he met with both clubs.

Frank shared with TV 2 Sport:

I found it surreal to be interviewing for two of the world’s top ten teams just two hours apart.

Frank’s Reflections on His Career

Despite not being offered either position, Frank acknowledges the significance of the opportunities presented to him. He mentioned a memorable moment while walking through Battersea Park between the interviews, contemplating his journey from Frederiksvaerk.

Frank successfully led Brentford to two consecutive top-10 finishes in the Premier League and now has Tottenham placed fifth in the standings after 11 matches.

He describes his tenure at Brentford as “unique” and expresses excitement for the new challenges he faces with Tottenham.

Frank noted:

I often say that our time at Brentford could very well be the highlight of our football careers due to the exceptional atmosphere we built among the squad and staff.
Currently, my job is intense and demanding, requiring a relentless focus on achieving victories and progressing.

Upcoming Matches

Tottenham will face their rivals Arsenal in the highly anticipated north London derby on Sunday, November 23rd.
