Tottenham Secures Kane Successor: Frank Aims to Bid for FC Portos Aghehowa

Tottenham Eyes FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa as Kane’s Successor

Tottenham’s Search for a Striker

Tottenham Hotspur is actively pursuing FC Porto’s rising star, Samu Aghehowa, to fill the gap left by Harry Kane. The prolific striker netted an impressive 280 goals and provided 63 assists during his 435 matches with Tottenham. The club is still on the lookout for a suitable replacement following Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich in 2023.

Current Performance

Since leaving Spurs, Kane has continued to excel, scoring 109 goals for Bayern Munich, highlighting Tottenham’s struggles in front of goal since his exit. Reports from Sky Sport indicate that Spurs are keen to secure Aghehowa’s signature as they strive to acquire a top-tier forward.

The 21-year-old has made a significant impact at Porto this season, with 6 goals and 1 assist across 10 league appearances, as the team competes for the league title.

Challenges in the Squad

With Richarlison not finding the net and Dominic Solanke dealing with ongoing injury concerns, manager Thomas Frank has faced difficulties in formulating an effective attack since taking charge. Frank, previously working with forwards Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins at Brentford, views Aghehowa as the ideal candidate to rejuvenate his attacking lineup, especially with both former players now at Aston Villa and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

In an intriguing development, Chelsea had also reached an agreement to sign Aghehowa for £35 million in 2024. Unfortunately, the transfer fell through at the last minute due to a failed medical examination after he had sustained an ankle injury.
