Spurs Forward Solanke Undergoes Minor Ankle Surgery

Injury Update

Tottenham Hotspur’s striker, Dominic Solanke, has recently undergone a “minor surgery” to address a lingering ankle injury.

Solanke, who last appeared for Spurs on August 23 against Manchester City, was noticeably absent from Monday’s training session ahead of the Champions League match against Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.

Coach’s Remarks

“Dom has been dealing with this ankle issue for a while, and we felt it was time to proceed with a minor procedure,” stated Spurs manager Thomas Frank during a press conference.

“This small operation will sideline him for the upcoming match against Bodo/Glimt and also the game against Leeds on Saturday. We will provide updates on his recovery timeline following the international break, but I don’t expect it to keep him out for long.”

Background on the Injury

At 28 years old, Solanke missed significant time in preseason due to his ankle problem, although he seemed to recover in early August, participating in matches against Paris St-Germain, Burnley, and Manchester City.

When asked whether an earlier surgical intervention could have been a possibility, Frank replied, “It’s tempting to think that way, but it’s not that simple. If we had known that surgery was necessary a month ago, we might have chosen to do it then.”

He added, “For me, there’s no point in looking back; we deal with the current situation as it stands. No one wants to go under the knife unless absolutely necessary.”

Current Team Standing

As of now, Tottenham holds the fourth position in the Premier League, accumulating 11 points from their first six encounters. They are also through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and recorded a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in their initial Champions League match of the season.
