Manchester United Appoints Stephen Torpey as New Academy Director
Manchester United has announced the appointment of Stephen Torpey as its new academy director.
Transition from Brentford
Torpey comes to Manchester United from Brentford, taking over the position previously held by Nick Cox, who departed the club during the summer months. Cox has taken on the role of technical director at Everton.
Significant Experience in Youth Development
Torpey has recently played a crucial role in revamping Brentford’s youth system, which included the introduction of a comprehensive Academy program that accommodates players from Under-9s to Under-18s. Before his tenure at Brentford, he contributed to the Academy coaching at Manchester City, overseeing all age groups, and has experience at the Foundation phase with Liverpool.
Official Start and Vision
Torpey’s official start date was Monday of this week.
He expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, stating, “It is obviously a great time to be joining as the club enters an exciting new era. I can’t wait to play my role in continuing the incredible tradition of youth development here.”
