Timo Werners Potential Move to Inter Miami as Messi Readies to Greet Ex

Timo Werner Set for Move to Inter Miami to Join Lionel Messi

Striker’s Transition

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is making preparations for a potential transfer to Inter Miami, where he would reunite with football icon Lionel Messi.

The 29-year-old German forward previously aimed to join a U.S. team last summer, however, a deal with the New York Red Bulls fell through. Since then, Werner has only participated in a single match for Leipzig and has not yet recorded any goals or assists, prompting the club’s desire for his departure.

Discussions Underway

Transfer expert Florian Plettenburg has reported that negotiations are currently in progress between Werner and Inter Miami for a switch in January.

“Timo Werner and his representatives are in talks with Inter Miami regarding a potential January transfer. Unless there are unforeseen complications, a move to MLS seems likely. His current contract with RB Leipzig is set to last until 2026.”

The player, who has previous experiences with Tottenham and Chelsea, has had minimal playing time this season, managing just one minute on the field. A transition to MLS could provide him the opportunity to rejuvenate his career, as many European talents find success in the league.

Upcoming Developments

The MLS Cup Final, featuring Inter Miami against Vancouver, is scheduled for December 6th in Fort Lauderdale. Werner’s transfer announcement could follow shortly thereafter, marking the signing of the Champions League winner by the MLS club.

With an impressive record of 24 goals from 57 appearances for Germany’s national team, Werner is expected to play a crucial role as a striker alongside Messi. He may also serve as a potential long-term successor to Luis Suarez, who is approaching his 39th birthday in January.
