Thomas Frank Claims Tottenham is Empty Without Supporters
Tottenham’s Frank Optimistic About Owner Support
Manager Expresses Confidence Amid Fan Frustrations
Tottenham’s head coach, Thomas Frank, has expressed strong confidence in the support he believes he has from the club’s ownership. Despite recent struggles on the pitch, including only one home victory in the Premier League since his appointment from Brentford, Frank remains hopeful. The team currently sits in 12th place in the league, having garnered just 18 points from 13 matches, and some supporters have voiced their dissatisfaction with the team’s performance.
“I believe in my discussions with the owners that they are intelligent individuals who understand the complexity of managing a football club,” Frank stated. “Every successful club has required time to build and grow.”
Recent Home Defeat and Fan Reactions
During a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Fulham, Tottenham’s goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario faced criticism from fans following a mistake that contributed to a goal by the opposition. Post-match, Frank defended Vicario, suggesting that fans who booed him were not true supporters of the club. He labeled their actions as “wholly unacceptable”.
Ahead of the upcoming match against Newcastle United, Frank acknowledged the understandable disappointment from fans. “I completely empathize with their frustration. It’s expected when a team fails to win. However, we must work together to create a stronghold at our home ground,” he insisted.
“We need the fans just as much as they need us. Togetherness is essential for us to establish a formidable fortress.”
Supporting Vicario After Setbacks
In light of the team’s recent performance, particularly Vicario’s misstep, Frank remained supportive of the goalkeeper. Vicario’s error came early in the match against Fulham and led to a swift reaction from the crowd, which booed him when he received the ball again.
“After the game, I spoke with Vic, and he felt fine. He is resilient in the face of challenges,” Frank noted. “Mistakes are part of being a goalkeeper, and how one handles these challenges is vital to personal and professional growth.”
Following the match, Vicario took responsibility for his mistake, stating, “I acknowledge my part in the second goal. I must remain strong and not let the crowd’s reactions affect me. Fans are entitled to express their feelings.”
