Tammy Abraham Excited About His Comeback at Aston Villa
“Feels Like a Dream” – Abraham Thrilled to Be Back at Villa
Tammy Abraham’s Return to Aston Villa
Seven years after propelling Aston Villa into the Premier League, Tammy Abraham has made a triumphant return to the club, reigniting hopes for the future as he finds the back of the net once again.
With Villa facing a potential defeat against Leeds United on Saturday, the 28-year-old striker made an immediate impact as a substitute. Just 13 minutes after entering the game, Abraham skillfully nudged the ball into the goal using his knee, leveling the match at 1-1 in the dying minutes.
This goal marked Abraham’s second since rejoining Villa from Besiktas in a transfer deal worth £18.2m, having previously scored in a loss against Newcastle in the FA Cup.
His Impact and History with Villa
Abraham’s history with Villa dates back to a productive loan spell in the 2018-19 season where he scored 25 goals in 37 Championship matches, playing a crucial role in the club’s promotion.
After his initial stint at Villa, Abraham transitioned to Chelsea, spent three years at Roma, and had short terms at AC Milan and Besiktas, where he was sold to Villa for a profit.
Reflecting on his return, Abraham shared, “It truly feels like a dream to be back with this club. I’m excited to contribute energy and spirit.”
He added, “Being alert in the box paid off, and scoring among some of the best fans in the world was special.”
Future Aspirations
Despite his contribution, Villa has struggled recently, accumulating only three points from their last four fixtures. They now sit seven points behind league leaders Arsenal with several matches left in the season.
When questioned about the team’s title ambitions, Abraham stated, “Who knows what could happen? We’re still close to Arsenal. Today wasn’t a win, but we must keep striving.”
He expressed his contentment at being back, humorously noting, “Now I just need to find a house!”
Champions League Aspirations
However, while the title may seem out of reach, the prospect of competing in the Champions League is a tantalizing possibility. Despite Arsenal’s recent draws, it’s challenging to envision either Arsenal or second-placed Manchester City dropping enough points for Villa to capitalize and claim the title for the first time since 1981.
Manager Unai Emery has downplayed the team’s title chances, recently emphasizing that even a position in the top five may be a stretch for them. He reminded fans that despite some discontent during games, the team is experiencing a remarkable season overall.
“We are competing in two tournaments and must focus on showing our ambitions,” Emery noted. “Our standing in the league is commendable, and we must continue to take it one match at a time.”
Team Dynamics and Abraham’s Role
Abraham’s integration into the squad has provided Emery with additional attacking options. He played alongside Ollie Watkins rather than replacing him, showcasing the potential for a formidable forward partnership.
The new signing relished this collaboration, stating, “We discussed our joint play during training, and it worked out as we managed to score together.”
Emery praised Abraham’s adaptation back into Premier League football, expressing enthusiasm for his commitment and motivation shown in his brief time on the pitch, marking him as an essential addition to their campaign.
