Sydney FC and Douglas Costa End Their Partnership

Sydney FC and Douglas Costa part ways

Douglas Costa’s Contract with Sydney FC Terminated

Sydney FC has officially ended its contract with Douglas Costa.

The former players of Juventus and Bayern Munich was in the midst of a two-year agreement with the Sydney club before the decision to terminate the contract was announced.

Mutual Decision to Part Ways

Both parties have come to a consensus regarding the termination, as Costa is currently dealing with significant personal and business matters in Brazil.

Performance Summary

During the last season, Costa featured in 25 matches, netting six goals and providing eight assists.

In an official statement, the A-League club remarked: “Sydney FC has mutually agreed to terminate Douglas Costa’s contract, as the winger is unable to travel to Australia. Ongoing legal and personal issues in his home country have hindered his departure. We thank him for his contributions in Sky Blue.”

Costa’s Reflection

In his own words, Costa expressed regret about his inability to return at this moment due to his pressing issues back home, while fondly recalling his experience in Sydney.

He stated, “I am truly sorry for not being able to come back right now because of the matters I need to settle at home, but I will always cherish my time in Sydney. I want to express my gratitude to Sydney FC for allowing me to play in Australia. It was an unforgettable year in Sky Blue.

To the members and fans, I genuinely appreciate the support you extended to me and the team. Playing in front of you was a privilege, and I will always hold that memory close.”
