Suwarso as President: My Request to Cesc to Identify His Successor
Mirwan Suwarso Expresses Desire for Cesc Fabregas to Identify His Successor
Planning for the Future
Mirwan Suwarso, the president of the club, has openly stated his interest in having coach Cesc Fabregas prepare for his succession. He emphasized that discussions regarding the future have been ongoing for quite some time.
In a recent interview, Suwarso remarked,
I’ve been working closely with Cesc, and he has never indicated a desire to depart. He aimed to understand the current circumstances, yet at no point did he express a wish to explore opportunities with other clubs, which kept me at ease.
Future Considerations
Suwarso elaborated,
I was only made aware of the speculation when journalists began questioning me. Our approach has always been to strategize for the upcoming season as soon as the previous one concludes, so there has never been a hint of him wanting to leave.
He continued,
I have encouraged him to start considering potential successors. This request doesn’t stem from a desire for him to exit but rather a precautionary measure to ensure we are prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
A Collaborative Effort
Suwarso reiterated the significance of planning, stating,
I am also in the process of identifying and mentoring individuals who could step into my role. It’s crucial for club directors to adopt a similar mindset. Relying solely on one individual is risky.
He added,
Those who have contributed to our success must assist in strategizing for a future without him. I frequently ask Cesc whether he has spotted any promising candidates or individuals he could mentor. It’s a collective endeavor. While we hope it won’t arise anytime soon, we need to be prepared.
Does he already have someone in mind? I consistently inquire. He shares that this topic is frequently on his mind, and we have ongoing discussions about it.
