Chris Sutton Critiques Nottingham Forest Fans’ Call for Manager’s Dismissal
Former England forward Chris Sutton has criticized Nottingham Forest supporters for their demands for the removal of Ange Postecoglou.
Ange Postecoglou’s Struggles at Forest
The Australian coach is still searching for his first victory after arriving at Forest, where he took over from Nuno Espirito Santo. He is currently winless in his initial seven matches in command.
Sutton’s Commentary
During a recent discussion on the Football Daily podcast, Sutton expressed his disbelief at the situation, stating, “I cannot recall a fanbase wanting a manager gone after just six games. It’s perplexing.”
He went on to say, “When have we ever seen fans urging for a manager’s departure after only six matches? I find that utterly absurd.”
Sutton further remarked, “I think there’s a sense of entitlement among Nottingham Forest supporters influenced by their recent successes and affection for Nuno… I understand why they feel that way.”
Future Concerns for Postecoglou
Sutton expressed doubt regarding the longevity of Postecoglou’s tenure, stating, “I don’t believe this situation will improve. The majority of Nottingham Forest fans seem unlikely to shift their opinion about him.”
He concluded, “It’s profoundly unfair and reflects a broader trend in the sport about how short-sighted people have become. I don’t believe that’s a valid approach. Everyone deserves time to develop.”
