Sunderland Pursues Bologna Defender Jhon Lucumi Once Again

Sunderland has expressed continued interest in Bologna’s defender, Jhon Lucumi.

Despite an unsuccessful attempt to acquire the Colombian player over the summer, Sunderland is planning to revive their pursuit in the upcoming January transfer window.

Previous Bid for Lucumi

According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Sunderland had proposed €30 million to Bologna for Lucumi, but the deal could not materialize before the transfer market closed.

Contract and Negotiations

Lucumi’s contract with Bologna extends until 2027, and his agent, Simone Rondanini, has been engaged in discussions regarding a potential contract extension.

However, these negotiations have been ongoing since the conclusion of last season, with no substantial progress made. This persistent uncertainty has prompted Sunderland to consider making a renewed offer for Lucumi in January.
